One thing that Sam's room does not lack is books. It might lack in another things (like, style and neatness and consistently open curtains), but it doesn't lack for books.

At the moment, Medusa is considering this to being something of an advantage, which is why the Gorgon can presently be found sitting on the floor, frowning over a book. There may be following the words with a finger and reading out loud (slowly) involved.

There are certainly open curtains and windows involved.

At some stage, Sam pops his head around the door. He's been looking for her.

"Hey, Meda, you coming out? It's finally warm outside."

She glances up, her snakes twisting to keep her braids out of her face.

"Warm?"

[necessary_child]

He grins. "Well, maybe not so much by your standards. Warmer, anyway."

[mycursedface]

"And you want to go outside." Medusa snaps the book shut. "This should be encouraged."

[necessary_child]

Sam laughs. "Yeah, but then you were in here." He leaves the doorway, moving to kiss her neck. "I think that should be encouraged, too."

[mycursedface]

"Just reading, though." Her snakes obligingly move out of the way to allow better access to her neck.

[necessary_child]

"Reading's important," he says, between kisses. "What've you got?"

[mycursedface]

"I...Good question." His kisses are distracting. Still. She suspects they always will be. "Um, Murder on the Orient Express."

[necessary_child]

They will be if Sam has any input on the matter.

"Hey, that's a good one." Kiss kiss kiss, lips trailing down to her shoulder. "Have you figured out who did it yet?"

"No, and don't you even think of telling me."

[necessary_child]

Sam salutes.

"Wouldn't even dream of it, don't worry. I think you'll like the ending, though; I know I did."

[mycursedface]

"Oh, good."

Then she pauses, eyes narrowing slightly.

"Do you think like this? I mean, like humans and in straight lines and plots?"

[necessary_child]

Sam considers, and uses the time to kiss her neck again.

"Pretty much, yes. I don't know how much that is me being me and how much is the time spent in human minds, though."

[mycursedface]

"Hmmm." Medusa studies the book in her hands for a long moment. "I'm not sure that I can."

[necessary_child]

"What's the problem?" he asks.

[mycursedface]

"I...I live in the present. So do Stheno and Ali. Humans don't. We can't...plot things out, not beyond hunting. And the more I live among humans, the more I think that, maybe, we...should learn. Or I should learn. How to think in Deeptime, I mean."

[necessary_child]

"Deeptime... that's a good way of putting it." Sam nods thoughtfully. "It would probably help you to understand humans. Understand them better, anyway."

[mycursedface]

Medusa brightens, hopefully.

"You think so?"

[necessary_child]

"Mmm-hmm." Kiss kiss kiss. "I can't see why not. It certainly wouldn't hurt, anyway."

[mycursedface]

"You're," kiss, "incorrigible."

[necessary_child]

Sam cups her chin in his hands, smiling at her.

"It's one of my better faults, I think."

[mycursedface]

"You would say that."

[necessary_child]

He gives her a wide-eyed puppydog innocent kind of look.

"Would I lie to you?"

[mycursedface]

Medusa looks at him back, smiling.

"No."

[necessary_child]

"Exactly," says Sam firmly, and kisses her again.

[mycursedface]

"Mmf."

She's not complaining about this, really.

"You said something," kiss, "about outside?"

[necessary_child]

"Mmmm," he says, hands running down her sides. "Probably."

[mycursedface]

"Be nice. Outside. With sun."

[necessary_child]

Sam grins suddenly, impish.

"Well, they do relax the bar's rules outside..."

[mycursedface]

She facepalms, and her snakes follow suit (although, in their case it's more their heads her shoulders).

"Not what I meant."

[necessary_child]

Sam laughs.

"Yeah, but you love me for it, Beautiful."

[mycursedface]

"Most of the time," she corrects, tossing her head up a little.

[necessary_child]

"And I love you, too." He sticks his tongue out at her, stroking one set of fingers down her arm to her hand.

"You wanted the outside?"

[mycursedface]

"Yeah," she says softly, with a quick smile. "I did. Do. You know what I mean."

[necessary_child]

He laughs quietly, linking their fingers together.

"Well, you might have to spell it out for me."

[mycursedface]

Medusa looks up at him, dark eyes roaming his face.

"I'd like to go outside, Lucifer my love, but only if you're with me."

[necessary_child]

Sam laughs, kissing her with a smile.

"Outside it is then, Beautiful."

[mycursedface]

She shakes her head at him, amused, and puts the book on the desk.

"Hopeless person," she mutters at him, tugging him outside.

[necessary_child]

"Pfft," Cheekily. "I have plenty of hope. Especially while you're around."

[mycursedface]

Medusa bumps him with her nearest wing. "Especially?"

[necessary_child]

Solemnly, "Especially."

Amongst other things, anyway.
