(no subject)

There was a wedding, and a certain couple entirely forgot about a present. And she had sighed and said she'd make a rug, and he had gone thank you, thank you very much. And so it was that Medusa has been making a rug for the past few months in her time - occasionally drifting in and out, but mostly concentrating on colours and weaves and symbols and magic.

But lo! Said rug is finished, and is now currently being thumped down on Sam's desk.

Gently, of course.

It wouldn't do to unduely startle the Devil, just because it's hours after dawn.

The kitten purrs rustily. Make of that what you will.

"See? You're being mean again. And colluding with my kitten in your meanness!"

"This is why you need to get up. Some fresh air! It'll do you the world of good, and clear your brain."

Sulkily, "My brain is perfectly clear. You're just cruel."

"Aren't," she replies, getting to her feet and lightly jumping off the bed before walking away.

She's headed towards the windows.

"Are!"

Ohnoes, light. D:

"All right, all right, I can take a hint." Sam sits up and swings his legs over the side of the bed, to a squeak of protest from Shreddie.

Medusa beams at him from over her shoulder, and continues to pull back curtains and open windows and letting in fresh air and natural light!

"I knew I loved you for something."

Sulk.

"You're my favourite tormentor, you know that?"

"No. But it's always nice to hear."

"Don't lie to me, woman." Grinning. "You know full well you're my favourite."

"Mmm, yes."

This is not the smug look you are looking for, clearly.

Sam wanders over to her, kissing her neck.

"Smug and beautiful. Can't imagine why I love you."

"Because you are Lucifer."

Snicker. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I...don't know. You're just you. And it fits."

Sam laughs, and kisses her cheek.

"Silly, lovely Meda."

His Meda. His.

"Mm."

Then she smiles at him, hopefully.

"Do you want to see what I made?"

"'Course." He strokes a curl of her hair, lightly twisting it round his finger.

"That it's a tapestry I gathered; what did you put on it?"

"Rug," Medusa corrects. "Rugs are useful."

Sam chuckles. "Doesn't have to be useful to be awesome. That's what art is."

He kisses her neck. "Go on then, show me what you made."

"They are having a baby. Useful is needed."

Still, she twists away to grab the rug (rug thank you) and unrolls it. It's large, large enough for a bed or a floor, with stripes of colour - reds, blues, greens, yellows, and colourful symbols in geometric patterns.

Symbols of protection, good fortune, and even an allusion to Frogspawn's nickname. As the symbol for 'frog' also means fertility and good luck, it fits.

Oooooh.

"It's gorgeous, Meda." He kisses her neck again. "Not as gorgeous as you, obviously. But. Thank you."

A quick smile.

"Thank you. And it was...nice. Making something for somone else."

Sam strokes her hair, strokes her snakes.

"How long did it take, in the end?"

And her snakes rub themselves against his hand, hissing softly in contentment.

"Just a couple of months."

"Just?" Sam keeps stroking. "Not that it doesn't look like it. It really is lovely."
