Zili, 350 AD

Mauretania Tingitana was what the province was called. Is called. Definitions are hard when the legions are left, and people still live under Roman names. And Phoenician, and, yes, still Amazigh names, and, really, Zili is just another trading town on the outskirts of an empire that mostly forgets about it.

It's a quiet town, a little run down, maybe, but the farms sprawling out over the countryside are still prosperous. It is also a town that remains mostly unaware of Hera's Garden to the north, and the Gorgons' cave in the south.

All six sisters have worked hard at that, magic and protection and twisting of reality until unless someone knows exactly how to get there, finding either sets of triplets is pretty much impossible.

Especially when the sun will set soon.

(Luckily for Epimetheus, the Gorgon girls are out and flying)

"Exactly." She squeezes him, and then steps back.

"I'll...try and rustle you up a bed."

Medusa watches them leave the kitchen, sucking in her cheeks to avoid saying something.

". . . Nice to have a constant in the world," Epimetheus comments, once he's sure -- fairly sure -- they're out of earshot.

"That's. A very diplomatic way of putting it."

[2020sight]

"Well, it is."

[mycursedface]

She laughs and looks down at the table (the amount of times she's actually looked at him is few, far fewer than when he knew her before).

"Yeah, I know. We don't change so much."

[2020sight]

"You have," he points out.

[mycursedface]

"In what sense?" Her head is up, eyes smoldering.

[2020sight]

He blinks at her.

"You -- said yourself. With the curse, and Nemesis. You know."

[mycursedface]

"It wasn't the curse that fucked me up, it was being raped." She presses her lips together. "And I'm not crazy anymore. Things happen, we go back to being the same."

Which is not...exactly true, and she knows it.

A snort. "I wish."

[mycursedface]

Medusa studies a scratch along the surface of the table, jaw clenched.









"Have I changed that much? Me myself?"

He looks over at her, silent for a moment.

"I don't know," he murmurs finally. "Maybe. Maybe I changed."

"All grow up, I guess," she says in a complete backflip from her previous statements.

"Maybe," he repeats, rueful this time.

Maturity's hard.

[mycursedface]

"Oh?"

[2020sight]

Light: "I don't plan to grow up any time soon."

[mycursedface]

"One, long, glorious boyhood from now until forever?"

[2020sight]

"Don't know about forever. That's a long time."
