Running up stairs in five inch heels is...interesting, but not as impossible as it first looks - you are just running on tip-toe, after all. Which is killing her feet, but she's tipsy and in love and doesn't care.
Of course, running while laughing and holding hands with your boyfriend is not helpful to maintaining balance, so it's little wonder that at some point, Medusa trips.

He's about four steps from the stop when he realizes that there are people blocking his path. The first thing that he registers, as he lowers the newspaper, is that it's a kissing duo.
"Oh, excuse m--" he says, awkward and a little amused, prepared to squeeze past them if necessary, except then it registers that he knows the pair.
He comes up short. "Oh-- oh! Pardon me!"
The amount of awkward in the air has suddenly become thick enough to cut with a knife, which may be evidenced by the good father's flaily hands.

(He has yet to notice that his hands are still up in front of him.)
"Er -- it's nice to see you both; terribly sorry, I'll just be -- yes!" He points over his shoulder, as awkward as awkward gets, turns around, and scurries back down the stairs.

Sam would never suggest such a thing.
"You're a bad influence on me, that's what you are."
He opens his arms to let her up.

"'Course I am."
She gets to her feet and manages to get to the hallway. It's then she has an idea. An idea which involves turning around, tugging a lock of his unruly hair, informing him in a grave voice that he is now it, and running down the hallway.
It's a brilliant idea.
Which is why she goes through with it.

Running after her.
He never said it was a bad idea, after all.
