After this...

Atton had healed her, mostly. Healed the deep, deep scratches across her back, her legs, but the exhaustion and bloodloss was still there. It did not help that her tunic was ripped and bloody, either. There ss the cold; the deep, biting, bone-deep cold of snow and metal, and Medusa just wants to lie in the sun and warm up.

Maybe clean the blood off, maybe find some new clothes, but when she walks back into her father's house, all the little Gorgon wants to do is be warm.

Unfortunately, she walks into the room that she shares with her triplets. Even more unfortunately, one of them is there.

...Stheno's speechlessness isn't going to last long, really.

Slowly,

"You're...fine."

She grins at her, bright and quick as a knife.

"Yes."

"And...that's it?"

"What else do you want me to say?"

"WHAT IN THE SEA'S NAME WERE YOU DOING?!"

"DON'T YOU DARE YELL AT ME!"

"IF YOU'D JUST LET ME EXPLAIN-!"

Euryale glares at them both.

"Yes, I did."

"Could you both just shut up and leave me alone?"

Stheno rolls her eyes and opens her mouth to speak-

- only to have Euryale cut across her.

"Meda? Are you all right?"

"I went to help a friend. From Milliways-"

"Of course."

[mycursedface]

Medusa glares at Stheno.

"And his world is cold. And I'm tired from fighting, but he healed me and I just want to be warm and I'm fine."

"Yes. He. Not all men are cold-hearted rapists, Stheno."

"You still shouldn't have gone off by yourself?"

"WHY NOT?"

"BECAUSE YOU ARE BEING STUPID!"

Stheno doesn't move closer, although she wants to. Instead, she settles from dragging her toe-claws against the stone floor and gritting her teeth.

"Stupid. Reckless. Try and prove that you are fine."

"...and what else am I supposed to do? I'm tired of hiding, Eno. I'm so, so tired of letting everything that happened rule me. We weren't alone. I had Lucifer, Will with us...I could have killed Atton and Will if they did anything. And he is a friend, and he offered.

If I said no, then I've lost. I might as well just go and curl up in Atlantis and never, ever come out.

I can't...I can't beat it if I hide."

"That doesn't mean that...that you just run off to other worlds and get yourself into this state, does it?"

Medusa just stares at the floor, fingers digging into her arms and vision blurring. She's tired, so tired, and why won't Stheno just shut up and leave her alone and-

"That's enough," Euryale says, quietly but firmly. "Stheno, just...not now."

"I'll just...go then, shall I?"

"Yes. Now."

"Fine. But we are going to talk about this later." And with that, the leggy Gorgon swept out of their room with her head held high.

Euryale watches her go, and then looks back at Medusa.

"Okay," she says, softly. "Lets get you cleaned up, Meda."

"I had to go, don't you see?"

"...You're not wrong, just...Eno's not wrong either. It was a very reckless thing to do. But, I...get it. I just.

We're talking about this later, once you are more sensible."

Medusa lets her shoulders slump, and just nods. Later, later, later, and she is not looking forward to it. Not tired and weepy and drained as she is.

But later is after a bath, after clean clothes and food and after Euryale has finished calming her down, and maybe...

Maybe it won't be so bad.
